Have a squizz through some of the questions we're often asked, you never know, you might find the answer you are after.

where does the sugar come from in our suckies?
+

The main ingredient in our suckies is whole milk. As milk contains naturally occuring sugars (lactose) this means our suckies do contain slightly more sugar than some other brands.
We do naturally sweeten our suckies with fruit ingredients. We only use enough to balance out the natural tartness of yoghurt and make it palatable to young taste buds.
There is no cane sugar in The Collective suckies range. Our suckies have no added nasties like preservatives, artificial colours or flavours.

are your tubs recyclable?
+

At The Collective we are very conscious of the impact on our local communities and environment and have a number of initiatives in the pipeline to reduce this impact. As part of our journey, we want to make sure the solution works for the current & future waste infrastructure, so we've consulted with recycling plants, packaging manufacturers and local council as part of this. Our new 'Dairy-free' range packaging is made from post consumer recycled plastic (rPET), which can be further recycled into more rPET, forming a closed loop. It is safe, hygienic, and is collected kerbside acorss NZ. The rest of our current dairy range is in number 5 plastic tubs, and are all BPA free.

why is there sugar in yoghurt?
+

dairy

In our dairy-based yoghurt, there is a naturally occurring sugar in milk called lactose. Some products in our range that have no added sugar and only sugar naturally occurring from milk include Straight Up Unsweetened, Just Greek and Kefir Unsweetened.Others in our range do contain sugar naturally occurring from the fruit ingredients but do not contain any cane sugar, such as Straight Up Strawberry and Blueberry, all Suckies and Kefir Blueberry, Boysenberry and Mango Turmeric.

plant-based

In our plant-based yoghurt, there is no added sugar, and any sugars occurring are naturally found in the plants we are using (Oats, Rice and Coconut) to make our yoghurt. Our Natural has only 1.3g of sugar per 100g, and the flavoured have from 4.7 - 5g of sugar per 100g. This sugar is naturally occurring from the fruit ingredients i.e. boysenberry, passionfruit.

All of our yoghurts are pasteurised and safe to eat during pregnancy. If we use egg in any of our flavours rest assured it is 'free range whole egg' and pasteurised too.

is your yoghurt suitable for babies & young children?
+

The dairy components in our yoghurt are pasteurised, however given the different stages of dietary requirements for toddlers and babies, we recommend you discuss this with your health care provider. There are no seeds or pips but please be careful, the cap is made of small parts and little people could choke on it. Please remove the cap completely and do not leave children under 36 months unsupervised with our suckies.
